Engineering Project Manager for Public Events in Malmö

Welcome to a multifaceted and exciting engineering assignment where you will play a central and important role in Malmö's public events. The Event Unit's mission is to fill the city's streets, squares, and parks with activities and brand-building events for Malmö residents and visitors. We work both with our own events and external actors, where we provide specialist expertise such as project management, logistics coordination, and financial advice.

Job Responsibilities

As a project manager, you will be part of various working groups related to public events in the city, where you will be responsible for the technical expertise. You will ensure that the logistical aspects, such as water and sewage, electricity, and constructions related to the events, function optimally.

Examples of annual events you will work with include the Malmö Festival, Christmas and New Year celebrations, Winter Games, and National Day, as well as other city events. During a fiscal year, you will participate in 10-15 larger and smaller events.

The events are primarily held outdoors, where you have an important operational role in quality assuring deliveries and production on site before, during, and after the events. You will also work strategically with planning, ordering, execution, budgeting, and follow-up of the logistical parts related to each event.

You will also work with concept development, write procurement documents, produce necessary drawings, and stay updated on legislation and regulations regarding work environment, electrical safety, etc. The position also includes responsibility for the maintenance plan for technical materials used by the city during its events, including planning and ordering repairs.

The position is a temporary contract for approximately 13 months, starting as soon as possible by agreement.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, such as electrical, construction, or building technology, or equivalent technical education deemed relevant for the position. You have experience from a similar technical and logistical role, where you have worked with reading drawings, making orders from framework agreements, and/or been a construction manager in various projects.

Experience in planning and executing events of varying sizes and complexities is meritorious. Working with LOU is a central part of the position, and experience and knowledge in LOU is meritorious. Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is required.

Since the position has many internal and external contact points, it is important that you are confident and stable with good collaboration and problem-solving skills. You have an easy time structuring and organizing your work and have an analytical approach. It is also important that you understand that we operate within a politically governed organization and how it affects the work.

The position involves many contact points, and instructions may be given in both Swedish and English. Therefore, good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is a requirement, while knowledge of English is meritorious.

About the Workplace

The Event Unit is part of the Department of Public Environments and works to produce and develop events in the city's public spaces – squares, streets, parks, and beaches – in close collaboration with community organizations, Malmö residents, administrations, and businesses.

The Property and Street Office consists of several different departments, including the Department of Public Environments. The Property and Street Office owns, develops, and manages the city's land on behalf of the Technical Committee. We work to enable a good urban life for Malmö residents and the city's businesses.
